Towniz vs Toca Boca World vs Avatar World

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Towniz, Toca Boca World and Avatar World are kids’ dollhouse-style games: dress up, build a home, pretend. This page sets them side by side so parents can pick. Towniz World: Avatar Life is made by My Town Games, the studio behind the My Town pretend-play series. It has no ads, every location in the town is open from the start, and sharing houses is the core of the game: kids place houses other players built on their map and play inside them.

Ads

Towniz has no ads: no banners, no video ads, no interruptions. Toca Boca World’s listing says it has no third-party ads. Avatar World’s US store pages do not state either way, so check the live listing if that matters to your family. All three are free to download with an optional shop, so turn on purchase approvals on the device either way.

What’s free

Towniz: the whole town is open, including houses, parks and shops. The shop sells extras (slots, packs, clubs), not access to the map. New free content and game updates arrive regularly.

Toca Boca World: the base game is a full playset. Extra locations come as packs. The Post Office gives free gifts every Friday.

Avatar World: free to download, with coins, packs, Avatar Pass and Pazu PLUS in the US shop.

Shared houses: the core of Towniz

Building a house in Towniz

Kids have shared thousands of houses in Towniz. You place one on your map and play inside it: a friend’s house, or one from a player you have never met. The library keeps growing, so there is new play without buying a pack.

Shared houses are built from in-game items only: no photos, no typed chat, no uploaded images. Publishing a house needs a Towniz account and an active club; playing in houses other people made does not.

Toca Boca World is single-player, with no gallery of other children’s houses to add to your map.

Playing together: Towniz parties

Towniz characters

Multiplayer in Towniz is a separate party experience. Kids invite friends to play together, and Builder Club members can host parties: private parties for approved friends or public parties other players can join. Players talk with emotes and ready-made phrases; there is no free-text chat. Multiplayer is currently in beta.

Which one fits your child

  • Toca Boca World if you want a single-player world with no other kids’ creations, and you are fine buying location packs over time.
  • Avatar World if your child already likes its avatar-city style and you are comfortable with coins, packs and a pass.
  • Towniz if your child likes to build and share, wants to play in other people’s houses for free, and wants to play with friends. No ads, every location open.

All three are free to download, so a child can try more than one.
